I've always liked the song "Night and Day".  So when I handed out an assignment to do a painting based on a song, this came immediately to mind, and I decided to do the assignment myself; which seemed to please the students. They were able to watch the steps one goes through while sketching, layout, and painting.  Also, while coming up with ideas, I am often swimming. I decided to show this happening as I was thinking about my feelings for a new beau. The layout, as a Dyptic, with very geometric sections, was influenced by a fellow painter, Mark Pflughoeft.
